PRP / PRF FAQ

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) and PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin) are regenerative treatments that use a small sample of your own blood to obtain a concentrated portion rich in platelets and natural growth factors.

These growth factors are then applied or injected, depending on the treatment plan, to support the body’s natural healing processes and promote skin rejuvenation.

Because PRP and PRF are prepared from your own blood, they are considered autologous treatments.

Both PRP and PRF are derived from your own blood.

The primary difference is how they are processed.

PRF is prepared without anticoagulants and typically forms a fibrin matrix that may release growth factors over a longer period.

PRP remains an excellent treatment option for many patients.

Your practitioner will recommend the most appropriate option based on your treatment goals and clinical assessment.

PRP and PRF may be incorporated into treatment plans for concerns such as:

  • Overall skin rejuvenation
  • Fine lines
  • Skin quality
  • Skin texture
  • Under-eye concerns
  • Acne scars
  • Hair restoration
  • Support following certain laser or microneedling procedures

Suitability depends on your individual condition and treatment goals.

A small sample of your blood is collected and processed using specialized equipment to separate and concentrate platelets and growth factors.

These growth factors are then used during your treatment to support your body’s natural healing response and tissue regeneration.

Because every individual heals differently, results vary from patient to patient.

Depending on your individualized treatment plan, PRP or PRF may be used for:

  • Full Face

  • Under-eye Area

  • Neck

  • Décolletage (Upper Chest)

  • Hands

  • Scalp (Hair Restoration)

  • Certain areas of the body when clinically appropriate

Your practitioner will determine whether PRP, PRF, or another regenerative treatment is the most appropriate option for each treatment area.

Because PRP and PRF are prepared from your own blood, they are generally well tolerated when performed by qualified healthcare professionals using appropriate sterile techniques.

As with any medical procedure, there are potential risks and side effects, which will be discussed during your consultation.

Comfort varies between individuals.

Depending on the treatment area, topical numbing cream may be applied before treatment to improve comfort.

Patients may experience mild pressure, pinching, or temporary discomfort during the procedure.

A typical appointment takes approximately 60–90 minutes, including:

  • Consultation or treatment review
  • Blood collection
  • Preparation of PRP or PRF
  • Treatment procedure
  • Post-treatment care
  • Review of aftercare instructions

Treatment time varies depending on the treatment area and procedure performed.

The number of treatments varies depending on:

  • Your skin condition
  • Hair condition (if applicable)
  • Treatment goals
  • Individual response

Many patients benefit from a series of treatments followed by maintenance sessions when appropriate.

Your practitioner will develop a personalized treatment plan during your consultation.

Results develop gradually as your body’s natural healing processes respond to treatment.

Some patients notice early improvements within several weeks, while continued improvements may occur over the following months.

The degree and timing of improvement vary depending on the treatment area and individual healing response.

To help achieve the safest and most effective treatment, we recommend:

  • Drink plenty of water for 24 hours before your appointment.

  • Eat a healthy meal before arriving.

  • Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before treatment.

  • Inform your practitioner about all medications, supplements, allergies, and medical conditions.

  • Notify us if you have a fever, infection, or are feeling unwell.

  • Follow any additional preparation instructions provided during your consultation.

Your practitioner may provide individualized recommendations based on your medical history and treatment plan.

Your appointment generally includes:

  • Comprehensive consultation and assessment

  • Review of your medical history

  • Blood collection

  • Preparation of PRP or PRF using a medical centrifuge

  • Cleansing of the treatment area

  • Application of topical numbing cream when appropriate

  • Administration of the treatment or application during Microneedling, depending on your treatment plan

  • Post-treatment care

  • Personalized aftercare instructions

Every treatment is customized according to your skin condition and goals.

Depending on the treatment performed, you may experience:

  • Mild redness

  • Swelling

  • Tenderness

  • Small pinpoint bleeding (when combined with Microneedling)

  • Mild bruising if injections are performed

  • Temporary tightness

These effects are expected and generally improve over the following days.

Downtime depends on the treatment technique.

When combined with Microneedling, many patients experience redness for approximately 24–72 hours.

When administered by injection, temporary swelling or bruising may occur.

Your practitioner will explain the expected recovery based on your personalized treatment plan.

Following treatment, we generally recommend avoiding:

  • Direct sun exposure

  • Swimming pools

  • Hot tubs

  • Saunas

  • Steam rooms

  • Intense exercise causing excessive sweating

  • Makeup until advised by your practitioner

  • Harsh skincare products

  • Retinoids and exfoliating products for the recommended period

  • Certain bleeding disorders

  • Active cancer requiring medical management

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding, depending on practitioner assessment

  • Certain medications affecting blood clotting or platelet function

A consultation is required to determine your suitability.

Yes.

PRP and PRF may be incorporated into treatment plans for certain types of hair thinning or hair loss.

Treatment suitability depends on the cause of hair loss, your medical history, and your practitioner’s assessment.

A consultation is necessary to determine whether this treatment is appropriate for your condition.

PRP and PRF may be considered as part of a treatment plan for selected patients with concerns involving the under-eye area.

Suitability depends on the underlying cause of the concern, your anatomy, and your practitioner’s clinical assessment.

During your consultation, your practitioner will recommend the most appropriate treatment options for your individual needs.

At I Care Beauty Clinic, every PRP and PRF treatment begins with a comprehensive consultation and individualized assessment.

  • Professional blood collection and preparation

  • Medical-grade centrifuge processing

  • Customized treatment protocols

  • Complimentary Microneedling with facial PRP/PRF treatments

Our goal is to safely support your skin’s natural regenerative processes while helping improve overall skin quality and long-term skin health.

PRP and PRF use your own blood-derived platelets and growth factors to support the body’s natural regenerative processes.

Dermal fillers are injectable products designed to restore volume, enhance facial contours, or improve specific facial features.

Each treatment serves a different purpose, and your practitioner will recommend the most appropriate option based on your concerns and goals.

Absolutely.

PRP and PRF treatments are suitable for both women and men seeking improvements in skin quality, skin rejuvenation, or certain types of hair thinning.

Treatment plans are fully customized according to each patient’s individual needs.

Some patients notice improvement after one treatment.

However, many patients achieve the best results with a series of treatments followed by maintenance sessions when appropriate.

Your practitioner will recommend a personalized treatment schedule based on your treatment goals.

Yes.

PRP and PRF are prepared using your own blood, making them autologous treatments.

Because they are derived from your own blood, no donor blood or synthetic filler material is used in the preparation process.

Every patient is different.

During your consultation, your practitioner will evaluate:

  • Your medical history

  • Current medications

  • Skin or hair concerns

  • Previous cosmetic procedures

  • Treatment goals

  • Overall suitability for treatment

This comprehensive assessment helps ensure that your treatment plan is safe, personalized, and appropriate for your individual needs.

Both PRP and PRF are prepared from your own blood.

The primary difference is the preparation method.

PRF is processed without anticoagulants and forms a fibrin matrix that may allow a more gradual release of growth factors over time.

PRP remains an excellent regenerative option for many patients.

Your practitioner will recommend the most appropriate treatment based on your clinical assessment and treatment goals.

Bio-Filler is a regenerative treatment prepared from your own blood.

Following blood collection, the sample is processed to create a gel-like injectable material that may provide temporary volume while using your body’s own biological material.

Bio-Filler is different from both PRP/PRF and commercial dermal fillers.

Treatment suitability depends on your anatomy, treatment goals, and your practitioner’s assessment.

Bio-Filler is temporary.

Results vary from person to person, but the treatment generally provides short-term improvement and often requires a series of treatments to help maintain results.

Many patients benefit from approximately 4–8 treatment sessions, followed by maintenance treatments when appropriate.

Your practitioner will discuss realistic expectations and recommend a personalized treatment schedule during your consultation.

Note: I recommend not putting “2–4 weeks” on the website. There is not enough high-quality evidence to support one specific duration for all patients, and the longevity varies widely depending on the preparation technique, treatment area, and individual biology. It is safer to describe it as a temporary treatment that often requires multiple sessions.

Yes.

Depending on your individual assessment, your practitioner may recommend incorporating regenerative treatments into a personalized treatment plan.

When clinically appropriate, these treatments may be combined with:

  • Microneedling
  • RF Microneedling
  • Subcision
  • CO₂ Laser Resurfacing
  • Erbium Laser
  • Thulium Laser
  • HIFU
  • Hair Restoration treatments
  • Medical-grade skincare

Some treatments may be performed during the same appointment, while others may be scheduled as part of a staged treatment plan.

The treatment sequence and timing are determined by your practitioner.

WHAT IS BIO-FILLER?

Bio-Filler is an autologous regenerative treatment prepared using your own blood.

After a blood sample is collected, it is processed using a specialized centrifuge. The plasma component is then carefully heated and cooled under controlled conditions to create a gel-like material that can be injected to provide temporary volume while utilizing your body’s own biological material.

Unlike commercial dermal fillers, Bio-Filler contains no synthetic filler material.

Because it is prepared from your own blood, Bio-Filler is considered an autologous treatment.

PRP vs. PRF vs. BIO-FILLER vs. DERMAL FILLERS

Treatment Main Purpose
PRP Supports natural tissue repair and regeneration using platelet-rich plasma.
PRF Supports natural regeneration using a fibrin matrix that may release growth factors over a longer period.
Bio-Filler Uses your own processed blood to provide temporary volume while supporting regenerative treatment goals.
Dermal Fillers Commercial injectable products designed primarily to restore volume, contour facial features, and enhance facial structure.

Each treatment has different indications. Your practitioner will recommend the most appropriate option based on your anatomy, goals, and clinical assessment.
